Bear Cam

Each year about this time the camera is on brown bears fishing at Brooks Falls, Katmai National Park and Preserve, Alaska.  There are even underwater views of salmon and sometimes a swimming brownie. Occasionally, naturalists talk about what is going on. You are also likely to see people fishing and other human activity, too.

Last year I watched three cubbies as they came floating down the river and over the falls with their Mama in hot pursuit. Male brown bears view them as a meal (for evolutionary reasons) and she was taking no chances. They reminded me of Winnie the Pooh and one of them was floating cork-like as s/he went over the falls backwards. They didn't appear to be particularly shaken by the event and once in shallow water on their way.

Bear Cam may be viewed here.

And speaking of bears, it is likely you've seen this female grizzly serving as a boat for her two cubs as she crosses a lake but in the event you haven't here it is. I love the way the cubs exit the ride, as though on a water slide without any ceremony.
