Today's poem is by John Greening, an elegy to First World War poet Isaac Rosenberg, killed April 1, 1918.

Greening's poem was first published in the Times Literary Supplement 2009.

Here is a short biography and photograph of Greening. And I include a biography of Rosenberg, one of the greatest of the First World War poets, known for writing on worn, tattered scraps of paper.
