Spiral in LL Pegasi

Astronomy Picture of the Day (APOD) has a photograph of a structure that is puzzling, at least astronomers are not in agreement on its cause.  It is an image of an unusual  spiral in LL Pegasi.

There is an explanation about what is known and what isn't. The spiral is beautiful by itself but the framing of the picture makes it even more lovely.
