Environmental & Science Education, STEM, Science & Society, Culture, Nature of Science, History of Science

As usual the National Academies of Sciences - Engineering - Medicine has published its  annotated State of the Union address by the president. The NAS always manages to post these annotations the day following the SOU. The annotations are based on NAS policy studies and reports.

It shows the myriad ways science and society are related. The SOU is followed by the annotations to the relevant parts of the speech.

This link tells you about the history of the Academy which was founded on March 3, 1863, at the height of the civil war. At this link you can access the mission, historical highlights, membership and more . To be elected to membership in the academy is a notable achievement -- "one of the highest honors that a scientist can receive."
