The Google Doodle for today, May 29, 2019 is an interactive celebrating a distinguished Danish chemist, S. P. L. Sorensen.

About a 100 years ago, Sorenson served as head of chemistry at the Carlsberg Laboratory in Copenhagen. The research question that guided him and the laboratory was "How do you brew the best beer of the highest quality?"

During this work he developed the familiar pH scale, a scale which runs from 0 to 14 that is used to assess acidity and alkalinity of materials. The interactive features a quiz where you are asked to place materials on the correct side of the scale, either acidic or basic.
